FORT HUACHUCA
Eight miles from Mountain View RV Park, this active army base is located
on the western border of Sierra Vista. Established in the late 1800s
Fort Huachuca has steadily increased in importance as a vital contributor
to the national defense. Fort Huachuca is headquarters for U.S. Army
Intelligence Center and School, U.S. Army Communications Command, U.S.
Army Electronic Proving Ground, Western Civilian Personnel Operations
Center and the Joint Interoperability Test Center. Fort Huachuca has
all the amenities of any large Army Post. Facilities available to authorized
personnel are Health Center, Commissary, Post Exchange, Outdoor Recreation
Center, Golf Course, Bowling Lanes, Field House, Swimming Pools, Riding
Stables, Movie Theater, Religious Center, Library, Post Office, Service
Station, RV Park and Education Center. The base also has an on-post
museum chronicling the history of The Fort, Indian Wars, Buffalo Soldiers
and many other items. Check at the main gate for a free base pass and
museum admission.
